Gili Air bike rental: a named price, not an island tariff

Snorkel Bike Gili advertises bicycle rental on Gili Air at IDR 50,000 daily, with a security lock and an accommodation shuttle service available. It also lists three days for IDR 120,000, five days for IDR 170,000 and a week for IDR 200,000. These are that supplier’s published prices, checked on 24 October 2026, not a regulated rate or a reservation.

For a stay close to your meals and activities, start on foot and hire a bike for the journeys you actually want to make. If you plan several days of riding, compare the multi-day package with the same rental duration, bike type and return deadline. The website does not establish whether delivery costs extra.

Ask your accommodation before paying for another bicycle

Vyaana Gili Air says a bicycle is provided for getting around. Ask whether your actual room booking includes one for each rider and whether the size fits; do not assume every Air hotel has the same arrangement. A rental delivered to your accommodation can also avoid collecting it while carrying boat luggage.

Test both brakes, tyre condition, steering and saddle adjustment before accepting the bike. Ask for a lock, working lights, helmet availability and the procedure for a puncture or damaged bicycle. A basket is useful for a small day bag; it is not a reason to ride with a suitcase or an unstable load.

Choose the Air journeys before choosing the bike

Use your room as the starting point, rather than assuming a complete coastal circuit is necessary. An east-coast stay near Sunrise Resort and a west-coast stay near Vyaana serve different morning and evening plans. Walk the immediate area first; rent when the opposite coast or an activity meeting point makes the extra range useful.

Do not read car-free as an empty path. Vyaana reports electric scooters as well as bicycles and horse carts on Air. Keep room for pedestrians and other users, and dismount where the surface or crowding makes riding awkward.

Trawangan and Meno: different suppliers, different surfaces

On Trawangan, Jambuluwuk Oceano advertises bicycle hire at reception. Pearl Sunset separately publishes IDR 75,000 per day; that hotel rate is not evidence of an island-wide price. Its room listings include two bikes with certain suites, subject to availability, so compare the room inclusions before adding rental spending.

On Meno, BASK describes sandy, uneven and sometimes narrow paths, with firmer village and interior stretches and soft coastal sections. It offers guest bicycles and notes village rentals near the eastern ferry landings. Wider tyres can help on sand, but no bicycle guarantees a rideable circuit. Be prepared to push or turn back rather than treating the coast as a surfaced cycle lane.

Arrival luggage is a separate transport problem

Before choosing a distant room, get the actual boat landing and property entrance. Arrange luggage help for that route, specifying the bags, price, meeting point and whether it involves an animal-drawn cart. If you prefer not to use horses, request a human-carried luggage service where available or choose accommodation within a manageable walk. Do not assume such assistance is automatically offered.

We have not assessed individual cart operators or animal welfare. A hotel referral does not establish humane treatment, and an animal-drawn cart is not a substitute for verified wheelchair access. For mobility needs, obtain current photographs or video of the landing, path, entrance, steps and bathroom, plus the exact assistance offered. A map distance alone cannot establish a usable route.

Keep the return journey practical

For an evening on the opposite coast, establish the route in daylight and carry a working light. Leave extra time when a path is soft or wet; walk the bicycle if you cannot control it comfortably. Do not make a timed boat check-in depend on a fast lap back to the rental shop.

Air, Meno and Trawangan are separate islands. A bicycle rental does not include passage between them, and carrying a bike aboard needs the boat provider’s permission. For most short island moves, return the rental on its original island and hire again if needed.
