Where to snorkel from Gili Air
For snorkelling on Gili Air itself, Manta Dive identifies artificial reefs in front of its resort as a shore-snorkelling location. For a boat outing, book an Air pickup and return: a tour visiting Air may actually start on Trawangan. Choose the shore session for one local reef area, or a boat programme if you want sites off Meno and Trawangan without moving accommodation.
The Nest statues are off Meno, not Air. Staying on Air is compatible with visiting them by boat; it does not put them within a recommended shore swim.
Shore snorkelling at the Manta reef frontage
Manta Dive describes more than ten artificial reefs in front of its Gili Air resort and explicitly mentions snorkelling from shore. This is a named location to discuss with its team, rather than a reason to enter from any east-coast beach.
Establish the entry and exit, current and boat movements for the actual session. Keep clear of coral and active landings. This guide does not specify a safe tide window or recommend swimming around the island. If you need in-water supervision, arrange it rather than assuming an equipment rental includes a guide.
Manta Dive Gili Air: shore snorkelling and artificial reefsA private boat from Air: four or six hours?
Ocean Earth Travels publishes two Air-return programmes. Its four-hour version includes two snorkelling spots and a beach stop on Meno. Its six-hour itinerary names Halik Reef off Trawangan, Nest off Meno, a Meno lunch stop and Turtle City, before returning to Air. The longer version adds a more specified route and time ashore; it is not six hours continuously in the water.
Pick the shorter format if you want part of the day back on Air. Choose the longer one if a Meno lunch break and the named route matter more than an afternoon on your home island. Conditions can change the stops, and turtle sightings are not guaranteed.
Ocean Earth Travels: Air-return four- and six-hour itinerariesPublished private-trip costs and what they include
The Ocean Earth Travels table checked on 25 October 2026 lists IDR 1,500,000 for the four-hour trip and IDR 2,200,000 for the six-hour trip in its “1 to 5 people” column. The extra-person column is IDR 250,000 per person for either duration. These are the advertised party brackets, not a per-person starting-price label or a live date-specific quotation.
The listed inclusions are Air pickup and drop-off, snorkelling gear and guide, water, snacks, fruit and GoPro video. Lunch on Meno, personal expenses, crew tips and pickup at Meno or Trawangan are excluded. Budget for lunch separately if you select the longer outing; a Meno lunch stop does not mean a meal is paid for.
Ocean Earth Travels: party-price table, inclusions and exclusionsHotel pickup: choose the Air-specific product
Gili Snorkeling separately advertises a four-hour private product whose opening description says its crew collects you at your Gili Air hotel. That differs from its Trawangan meeting-point products, even though the shared lower-page itinerary repeats Trawangan departure wording.
Use the Air-specific option as an enquiry lead, then obtain a written collection and return arrangement for your accommodation. The site’s conflicting generic departure and cancellation text means this page does not promise a particular pickup beach, refund deadline or all-in party price. Ocean Earth’s clearly stated Air-return programme is the more explicit published itinerary comparison above.
Gili Snorkeling: Air-specific pickup description and generic-text conflictFit the outing into an Air stay
Keep one water programme as the main activity that day. After the four-hour outing, leave the rest for lunch, rest or a west-coast sunset visit; after the six-hour version, avoid adding a separate Meno passenger excursion. This is suggested pacing, not a guaranteed return time for a ferry connection.
If staying only briefly, use a full island day for the boat rather than placing it between arrival and onward check-in. Choose the room and arrival coast separately: an east-facing room does not establish a suitable snorkelling entry.
Swimming ability and wildlife
Tell the provider before paying if anyone needs close supervision, cannot swim confidently or wants to remain aboard. Confirm suitable flotation and how people reboard the boat. A private booking changes your group arrangement, not the sea conditions or the level of individual support automatically provided.
Do not touch, chase or block turtles, stand on coral or treat an early start as a guarantee of empty sites. The operator descriptions above were checked on 25 October 2026 for programme scope, not to certify local water conditions or available seats.
