Can you still take a direct boat from Amed?
Do not build an Amed-to-Gili travel day around the widely repeated Freebird Express 09:30 departure. On 24 October 2026, GiliBookings displayed an Amed port closure notice alongside older direct-service descriptions. Its own schedule table instead showed Padang Bai and a promotion that ended in June 2024. Those details do not establish an operating Amed departure.
We could not independently verify a current direct Amed sailing with the operator or port authority. That is not proof that every boat from Amed has stopped permanently; it means a direct crossing is not a dependable published option for this guide. The workable alternative is a car from your Amed accommodation to Padang Bai, followed by a confirmed fast boat to your island.

Give your driver the actual Amed hotel location and the boat company’s Padang Bai check-in point, rather than asking for a generic harbour drop-off. Amed is the starting place for your road transfer; Padang Bai must be the departure port on the ferry ticket. An agent selling an “Amed to Gili” package may be combining these two legs.
Do not use the old Amed boat’s crossing duration as the total journey time. The replacement involves a separate road trip, check-in and a sea crossing. We do not have a verified Amed-wide pickup duration or fixed car fare: accommodation location, traffic and the chosen sailing change the plan. Get a pickup time that reaches the operator’s check-in deadline, not merely its sailing time. BlueWater Express publishes a last check-in of 30 minutes before departure.

An example for November to April
BlueWater’s published November–April pattern lists Padang Bai departure at 10:15, arrival at Gili Trawangan at 11:45, Gili Air at 12:20 and Bangsal at 12:45. All are local WITA times. With its 30-minute check-in deadline, that example requires you at check-in by 09:45; ask the driver to plan an earlier arrival rather than aim exactly at the cutoff.
This is the operator’s seasonal pattern, not a reserved seat or a promise that the crossing will run on your date. In October it publishes a different Padang Bai departure. Use the dated ticket to settle the sailing, then arrange the Amed pickup around it. The boat makes intermediate calls, so the advertised time to Trawangan is not the arrival time on Air.

Price the Amed car and the Padang Bai boat separately unless a package explicitly includes both. Add any excluded port charges and the cost of an extra island transfer if your ticket ends somewhere other than your accommodation island. Ekajaya says fares vary with season, availability and promotions; an old Freebird fare is not a current quote for this alternative.
Before paying an agent, have the operator name, sailing date, physical departure port, arrival island, pickup address and refund terms in writing. If the offer claims a restored direct Amed service, obtain that exact departure confirmation from the named operator. A route description or search result alone does not resolve the conflicting status.
